POCO X4 5G
The Poco X4 Pro 5G isn't your typical high-performance, low-cost Poco smartphone. It's impossible to conceal its flaws. It's especially harder not to think about the fact that it's simply a rebadged Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G with a redesigned rear panel and a toned-down primary sensor. Furthermore, it isn't the Poco X3 Pro's successor as planned. The previous generation phone used a Snapdragon 860 SoC, however this phone has a Snapdragon 695 SoC, which supports 5G but has been the subject of much discussion due to its own set of constraints.
Even so, the X4 Pro 5G has a lot to offer. It has a 120Hz AMOLED display, a 64-megapixel main camera, and a 5000mAh battery with 67W rapid charging capability. The 5G support on the X3 phones is the most noteworthy change. And it's still quite reasonably priced. Is it, nevertheless, better to get the Poco X4 Pro 5G instead of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G? Continue reading to find out.
Poco X4 Pro : Design
The rest of the design is similar to the Redmi Note 11 series, featuring a flat display on the front, a flat glass back, and a matte plastic frame. The back panel, on the other hand, is shiny. It has a reflecting surface that collects a lot of fingerprint smudges. The back panel has a few lines that wrap around it. It appears to be in good condition. However, the phone is quite large. It's not designed to be used with only one hand. Those who appreciate small form factors should avoid this one.
For dust and splash resistance, the phone is rated IP-53. The rest of the design is standard. The volume buttons are on the right side, the 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster are on the top, and the USB-C port, primary microphone, and hybrid SIM/microSD tray are on the bottom.
Poco X4 Pro : Display
The Poco X4 Pro 5G features the most comprehensive display ever seen on a Poco smartphone. It has a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and broad colour support. Beyond a certain pricing range, almost all Redmi and Poco phones have had the same size panel. The phone has a touch sampling rate of 360Hz. The screen is HDR-enabled, but HDR streaming is not supported.
The top cutout is kept to a minimum, and Corning Gorilla Glass protects the screen. According to Poco, the phone has a usual brightness of 700 nits and a peak brightness of 1200 nits. At this pricing, it's on par with most OLED panels. From the Settings menu, you can choose between 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rates.
Poco X4 Pro : Performance
As previously stated, the Snapdragon 695 chipset in the Poco X4 Pro 5G is a significant performance reduction from the Snapdragon 860 SoC in the Poco X3 Pro. To make up for that, it adds 5G support. The chip is made on a 6nm technology and has an Adreno 619 GPU. The phone comes with a choice of 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. There are two storage options: 64GB and 128GB.
Most of the time, the X4 Pro 5G runs flawlessly. The UI is smooth, and the phone does everyday chores with ease, but it's a far cry from Poco's previous performance-driven products. The GPU isn't up to par. While using the phone and playing games, I experience minor lags.
The phone is equipped with a stereo speaker system. At the top and bottom, two speakers are symmetrically arranged. They're loud and feature a well-balanced sound. If 5G isn't a big deal to you, the Poco X3 Pro is still a superior choice. Following the debut of the X4 Pro 5G, it may become even more affordable.
Like most Xiaomi phones in the recent past, the latest Poco phone runs MIUI 13 on Android 11. As a result, it lacks Android 12 features such as redesigned widgets and the Privacy Dashboard. The UI is extremely similar to MIUI 12, and if you've ever used a Poco or Xiaomi phone, you'll feel right at home with the Poco X4 Pro 5G.
Poco X4 Pro : Camera
The phone has a primary camera with 108 megapixels, an ultrawide camera with 8 megapixels, and a macro camera with 2 megapixels. A single LED flash is present. A 16-megapixel sensor is used in the front camera. There are lots of settings in the camera app to keep you occupied.
By default, the main camera takes 12-megapixel photos. It's adequate for the price and produces photographs that are suitable for sharing on social media. Color accuracy and contrast levels are acceptable in the images. The dynamic range is also acceptable, although the image processing limitations are readily obvious. Even in decent lighting, a lot of noise gets into photos. The camera has a tendency to oversharpen skin tones, making the images look unappealing at times.
In direct sunlight, the wide angle sensor performs admirably. It boasts a wide field of view and excellent detail capture, although it struggles in low light. The lack of a Night Mode on the wide angle camera exacerbates the situation. A 2-megapixel macro camera is also included in the X4 Pro 5G. You may get some decent images if you are a talented photographer and know how to use it; otherwise, most pictures are blurry.
Despite the lack of a dedicated depth sensor, the Poco X4 Pro 5G takes excellent portrait photographs. The individual is well exposed and the subject separation is superb. The 16-megapixel selfie camera takes good pictures, but the quality isn't as good as on mid-priced phones.
Poco X4 Pro : Battery
The phone has a 5000mAh battery, which is identical to the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G. It supports 67W rapid charging, and a compatible charger is included in the box. I was able to get a longer battery life than the Note 11 Pro+ 5G. The phone lasted an extra couple of hours. Watching videos, playing games, and taking pictures were all part of my use case. With moderate to heavy use, the battery should last practically a full day.
The 67W charging is a significant improvement over the Poco phones from last year. It takes less than half an hour to charge the phone from zero to 100%.
